Golden Era Beats

  • by

Vitch, year of manufacture 1983.

Growing up in the golden age when Roger Linn invented and launched the Akai mpc. Until my first mpc2000xl, my first beatsteps were in Fruity Loops. After that I switched to Cubase, because more and more recordings were added.
Producing beats became producing songs.
So followed the establishment of treesonsrecords recording studio in December 2010.
And no matter how much production and service I have in the studio.
The time at the mpc with samples is still my biggest passion !
And that’s why I decided to build my own beat store.
So that all the beats don’t languish on hard drives. Everyone should be able to hear and acquire you!

Golden Era Beats

My generation, which experienced the most exciting hip hop time from the 90s to the 00s, has a hard time with rap today. The ones who say that everything was better in the past and always listen to the old rap hits.

And the others, who can’t hear the old stuff anymore either, and are always looking for new artists who don’t sound like colorful clowns on parts and you don’t check the flow because of all the adlips. I belong more to the second group and always try to pull something out of the “new” generations and their sound and integrate it.

But to be honest, it doesn’t work anymore. I actually can’t do much with Deutschrap anymore. There are certainly exceptions, but to find them you also give up more and more.
But for the most part this has more to do with the fact that there has been a much more open supply and demand for diverse rap for a few years now, instead of copy and paste mode Mio Rap. Producers like Apollo Brown, Alchemist, 9th Wonder or Dj Premier also team up with younger rappers like JCole or Russ and create the best out of everything. And it works and is successful !!!
They live a completely different culture there. Things are tried out and not immediately condemned. Rappers trust their producers and give the sound a chance before thinking about whether the sound just sounds like the rest of the whole unit party.
And this movement has also made me produce more freely again. Not thinking about which buyer my beats will find and how they might sound better to get placements. I have buried this thinking !
And that’s why I’m writing this blog, because I would like to tell you how this beat series came to be.

Three longtime friends and beatproducers and I booked ourselves a house in Holland at the Eiselmeer in October this year and all took some equipment with us. Completely free from everyday life and tasks, we built beats like nerds from morning till night for three days. My strategy was to make sketches in the mpc that should always feel good. At home, I gradually produced the beats and added more. That’s how this series of beats came about, which I wanted to describe in my store.
Even if they are not flawless Golden Era or Boombap beats for one or the other, they are just my Golden Era beats for me. Because they are born from technical experience and loose, free work !

I hope you feel the sound and dare to go to other shores to experience that hiphop is still in the Golden Era !n
